Let the aromas of warm Gluhwein and roasting chestnuts get you into the festive spirit while you peruse the stalls laden with Christmas goodies.

Did you know that way back in 1298 Albrecht I. allowed Vienna’s citizens to hold the first December Market known as the “Krippenmarkt”? Today the city boasts over 20 official Advent Markets selling seasonal Christmas foods, handcrafted goods, tree decorations and all manner of gifts. Our favourites? The City Hall market where kids can attend Christmas cookies or candle workshops and listen to the carols, and the market at the Schönbrunn Palace for genuine hand-made nativity sets and delicious Vanillekipferl pastries.
