Majestic Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) is the world’s third largest church and has attracted pilgrims, worshippers and tourists alike for centuries. It offers room for more than 20,000 people. A UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 2006, it took over 600 years to complete. Well, actually, they ran out of money half-way through the project…
The cathedral was originally built to harbour the tide of pilgrims admiring the relics of the Three Wise Men present at the birth of Jesus which are still on display in a golden shrine behind the altar!
