If you only see one museum, Munich’s Pinakothek der Moderne is the one not to miss. The spectacular building is a masterpiece of art in itself, flooded with light, holding one of the finest collections of contemporary art on the planet, with works from Picasso to Willem de Kooning and Andy Warhol. The Pinakothek’s International Design Museum also boasts a dazzling collection of modernist design, applied to industrial as well as to consumer products such as automobiles, computers, kitchen machines and asparagus peelers.
